Mike is a seasoned swim coach with extensive knowledge of teaching, learning, training, and motivational techniques. His coaching philosophy focuses on developing superb technique in order to swim fast without injury. His training focuses on quality. He believes that training more efficiently and faster in practices, results in racing faster in competition.

His coaching is holistic, helping athletes develop intellectual, physical, and psychological skills resulting in enhanced performance and a keen love of the sport. To augment his coaching, Mike is also skilled at video stroke analysis above and below water. He integrates mental training through visualization, strategy acquisition, goal setting and team building. Mike is adept at pre, post and during season conditioning programs, emphasizing swim-specific exercises that help athletes develop core strength, flexibility and power, while reducing the risk of injury.
